This post card collection is from the estate of Judge & Mrs. James N Edwards of Benson, Minnesota, dating from 1904-1910…

The post cards in this collection give us a glimpse into the lives of the James Edwards family.

We found this collection at an Estate Sale here in Minnesota. We never knew the Edwards family, but we were intrigued by their post cards and researched their names to learn more about them. Here is a little more history for you: James Newton Edwards was born on October 18, 1846 in Illinois to Berry W and Sarah A (Bevins) Edwards. He married three times: first to Ellen Maria Kepner on October 12, 1879; then to Mary E Hunter on February 11, 1891; and lastly to Alvira A Turner on July 25, 1901. James and Ellen’s children were: Effie, Eugene, Eunice, Inez, Rose, Zula, Lillie May (1889 – 1930), and May. Alvira had five children from a previous marriage: George Warren Turner (1875 – 1929), Charles Otis Turner (1877 – 1967), Minnie Elizabeth Turner (1879-1973), Rose May Turner (1882 – 1972), and Albert R Turner (1886 – 1960). This collection includes postcards from the children. In 1894, James was elected judge of probate in Swift County Minnesota.

ITEM CONDITION:
The post cards in this collection are really beautiful and were very well cared for and loved. Some of the cards are embossed with intricate detail. The cards have all been mailed to either Mrs. J.N. Edwards or to Mr. J.N. Edwards, so they have the stamps and post marks on the cards. The cards range from 1904-1910. Please use the ZOOM tool to get a close up view of this item and its condition.
